Biographical Information

  • A widowed teacher who taught in the south at the time of the civil war
  • She was teaching in the mountains of NC when civil war broke out and trying to travel home was on trains with people on both sides in the war
  • Ruth Marilyn Brandon says that she kept a diary that Marion Vera Hurlburt tried unsuccessfully to get published of which several copies exist, but I do not have a copy.
