Notes

  • The Walter Hatton who contributed to the book Back in those days, 1902-1935 is a different Walter Hatton. (Book also available at Amazon.com.) I ordered a copy just to be sure. Definately not this Walter Hatton.
  • The Wikipedia page on the FA Cup (checked 2007 Apr 19 08:10 UTC) notes that the 3rd FA Cup Trophy was created by Fattorini's of Bradford in 1911. The modern Fattorini's seems to be based in Birmingham though. Brandy Donaghy mentions that WLH was from Birmingham, which would match with him possibly being an employee of Fattorini's at the right time for the FA Cup. Birmingham and Bradford are a couple of hours drive apart even with 2007 roads and in 1911 would not have been considered "close". Perhaps the Bradford branch produced the cup but the main office in Birmingham was still involved? Or perhaps WLH did a stint in Bradford? This requires further research. Brandy Donaghy says "there appears to have been some kind of issue with them and my great granddad" but does not know details.
