Doctor Who List
Chronological list of the Doctor Who franchise on film and television: the main series, the Peter Cushing films, the TV spin-off series, the specials, webcasts and animated serials, and especially notable unofficial productions (spin-off videos and fan productions with their own Wikipedia article in any language, checked 2026-10-17). Audio dramas, books, comics, games and stage shows are not included.
Films are ordered by original UK release date; series by first-episode date, with first and last dates ("present" = still running or more expected, as of 2026-10-17). Specials, minisodes and the 1996 TV film made as part of the main series' run are in its row, with where they fall. Released productions only (the CBeebies animated series Doctor Who: TARDIS Crew, expected late 2027 or early 2028, has no firm date yet). Sources: Wikipedia's Doctor Who spinoffs, List of supplementary Doctor Who episodes and the individual production articles. Who Tally is a separate story-by-story tracker for the main series.
Rows shaded like this are unofficial/fan productions; unshaded rows are official. Clicking the Type column header groups them together.
Items deliberately left out (documentaries and companion shows, re-edits, interactive titles, commercials, stage shows, attractions, unofficial productions that aren't especially notable, and productions with their own characters) are recorded, with the reason for each, at Doctor Who List Exclusions.
| Released / first aired | Last aired | Title | Type | Medium | Notes | Watched (start) | Watched (end) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1963-11-23 | present | Doctor Who | TV series | Live-action | BBC; the main series. Classic run 1963-11-23 to 1989-12-06 (seasons 1-26), revived from 2005-03-26 (Series 1-15 so far; the BBC calls Series 14-15 "Season 1-2"). The Series Backlog Active line numbers all seasons continuously: 27-39 = Series 1-13, 40-41 = Series 14-15. Part of the run, so no rows of their own: the 1996 TV film Doctor Who (first aired 1996-05-12 in Canada; falls between season 26 and Series 1); Shada, season 17's unfinished final serial (falls after 17-20, The Horns of Nimon), released 1992 on VHS with Tom Baker linking narration and completed with animation 2017-11-24 (the current best version); the specials (2005-present, between the series); and the charity specials, minisodes and prequels made during the runs, listed with dates and placement in Wikipedia's List of supplementary Doctor Who episodes (its commercials and interactive items are excluded). Missing 1960s episodes are watched as reconstructions or animations (see Who Tally). Started 2014-09-07, restarted with Alex 2020-06-16. Skipped extra, watched late on 2026-10-24 (after 12-11): the Web of Fear trailer (1968-01-27), a separate in-character scene of Troughton's Doctor in the Underground warning viewers about the Yeti, broadcast after The Enemy of the World episode 6 and before The Web of Fear episode 1. Only the audio survives; Shapeshifter Studios animated it, and the BBC posted it on the official channel as "The Web of Fear Teaser" (2020-11-23, 1:23). Also on the 2021 Web of Fear Special Edition DVD/Blu-ray as "The Web of Fear Trailer". The first in-run extra after season 12 is the Disney Time special (1975-08-25): Tom Baker's Doctor presents Disney clips, then is called away by the Brigadier, leading into Terror of the Zygons (13-1); its footage is on the Season 13 Blu-ray (The Collection).
